Obituaries

Rita Marie Christie passed away peacefully in Halifax at Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility on Saturday January 21, 2023 at the age of 90.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Beckwith) Blain. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Stanley Christie.

Rita lived in lakeside for many years. She worked in Sobeys for several years and also volunteered as a school monitor at Lakeside Elementary School.

Rita enjoyed going for long drives, and especially shopping with friends.She always loved to have a good time anywhere she went.

Rita was a very kind and giving person and she had a great love of dogs.

Rita is survived by her sister-in-laws Betty McManus of Truro, Nova Scotia, Judy McManus of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia and Rose Dion, Ottawa, Ontario, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to the staff at Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility, especially the staff on Flemming Way Unit for their kindness and compassion for Rita.

A special thank you to her friend Pat Hartlen for always being there for Rita, and making sure she always had what she needed.

A special thank you to her friend Yvonne Meuse for being there for Rita.

As per Rita’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

There will be a graveside interment on Friday February 10, 2023 at 11:00am, at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.
