Obituary For Thomas Alfred Duggan

Thomas Alfred Duggan, (82), born of Whites Lake (Hubbards) passed away peacefully on December 18th , 2022 surrounded by his loving immediate family in the Halifax Infirmary.

Tom enjoyed life and had a genuine interest in people. He enjoyed meeting new people, and would spark up a conversation with anyone and everyone he would meet. He had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, watching wildlife, specifically deer, buffalo, and different species of ducks and birds. He loved hosting get togethers, and could always be counted on to play his guitar for the crowd, all while having the odd taste of Captain Morgan to wet his whistle. Tom had a real green thumb and prided himself on keeping an immaculate yard. Tom enjoyed woodworking and created many beautiful creations throughout his time. Tom worked at a few places over his career in the plumbing and heating industry, with the biggest part being at Steen Contractors as a purchasing agent. Tom met his forever wife Doris Duggan (MacLeod) at a young age and fell in love and got married on August 11th 1978. They started a family with the birth of Tammy Marie Duggan (MacDonald). As a family they loved spending time with each other and going on road trips to such things as the fall harvest in the valley, visiting wildlife parks, and celebrating many holidays together. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Tom and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.

Tom is survived by his wife Doris Duggan, daughter Tammy MacDonald (Duggan), son in law Scott MacDonald, sister Thelma Ryan (Duggan), brothers Theodore Duggan, Donald Duggan (Ester Duggan), and Pat Duggan (Susan Duggan), and sister-in-law Debbie MacLean-Yeo, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Beatrice Duggan, father Jack Duggan, brother Jim Duggan, sister Lillian Beazley (Duggan), sister-in-law Carol Moulton (Stillwell), Vaunda Duggan (Crozier), and brother-in-law Leo Beazley and John Yeo.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Donald K Walker Funeral Directors Ltd in Dartmouth. A church service will be held at St Vincent De Paul on Friday January 20th at 11 AM, with a reception to follow. His family will be present to welcome all friends and family.

I'm so sorry to hear this news.Tom and I were in the same industry and I was fortunate to have him come and work with us at Source Atlantic. A hard working ,diligent and thoughtful man. Tom had a great sense of humour and we had a lot of laughs at work. Tom gifted me with a large hand made bird feeder as a thank you for employment...and would not take any money for it. It is a prized part of my yard ...when I look at it I think of Tom. My thoughts go out to his family...we are sure going to miss him. Gerry Baker
