Obituary For Adela Teresa Escobar
Adela Teresa Escobar (83 years of age) lost her courageous battle with Dementia and passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family, in the late afternoon of January 5th, 2025.
Adela was born July 14, 1941 in El Salvador, Central America . She was predeceased by her loving parents, Petronila de Escobar (Peraza) and Juan Antonio Escobar. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Rudolph (Kevin), and her siblings Eduardo Escobar (Mary) and Manuel Escobar (Eileen). She is also survived by her beloved grand-daughter, Ashley Rudolph (Alexander) and her nephews Juan Escobar (Heather), Steven Escobar and Victor Escobar (Terry-Ann) as well as her great- nice Erica Escobar and great-nephew AJ Escobar.
Adela dedicated her life to helping others, first of all as a Professor of Mathematics and Physics, where she selflessly devoted her time and efforts to the success of her students. She then continued her passion of helping others by working for the Department of Community Services as a Counsellor where she developed life long connections and friendships with so many individuals with disabilities . She was awarded the Premier’s Award of Excellence for her amazing work in 2009.
Adela had many roles in her life - daughter, mother, sister, friend, and most importantly to her, grand-mother (Amma). In her free time, she truly enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, whether that meant cooking a traditional Spanish meal or simply having a chat while enjoying a cup of coffee with pie. She could always be found with those close to her or at Church . As a devout Catholic her faith was paramount.
She was passionate about living life to the fullest. She enjoyed singing and dancing to her favourite Latin music, going for walks around her neighbourhood and sitting outside with her grand fur baby, Milo. Her infectious laugh was adored by everyone she came across and will be greatly missed.
Her family want to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to all nurses and staff at Maplestone Enhanced Care Nursing Home (Evan’s Court). The love and affection they provided made Maplestone her home away from home. for the last 4 years . They would also like to extend a very special thank you to an incredible friend to the very end, Odesa Godbold for all her love and kindness .
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 11:00am at Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Parish Church with a reception to follow . In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
“ Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 Adela lived her life believing in her Faith in God and her Faith in the goodness and love we all have for one another!
