Obituary For Allan Watt

WATT, Allan - 79, of Dartmouth peacefully passed away on December 5, 2021 with family by his side at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Pictou on March 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Isabel (MacDonald) Watt. Allan helped his mother look after the family after his father's untimely passing 1967. In his early years he worked on the ferries which travel between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He liked to golf and worked as a caddy at the Pictou Golf and Country Club. He graduated from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS) as a civil engineer. He inspired his son to follow in his footsteps. He worked hard and eventually ran his own construction company - Watt Construction Services Ltd. in Riverview New Brunswick. He was an innovator and obtained a patent for a rink design in the early 80's. He worked many hours but he had a zest for life and still found time for family. He built a cottage in Malagash Nova Scotia where lots of good family memories were made. There were ski trips including to Squaw Mountain, Maine. After he retired his children and grandchildren always enjoyed summer visits in Halifax and nights out at the casino. He made lots of friends where ever he went. He was a cancer survivor. He valued family and cherished his children and grandchildren dearly. He taught his daughter to live life to the fullest. He retured to live in Pictou for a few years to look after his mother Isabel before she passed away in 2010. His big colorful personality, phone calls, and emails will be sorely missed.

Allan is survived by his two children Jason (Ranika Prasad), Vancouver BC, and Jennifer (Kevin Blacklock) Port Elgin NB, three grandchildren, Zoey Watt, Branden and Lindsey Blacklock, brother Larry (Sharon) Riverview NB, sister Margo (James Russell) Pictou NS, and several neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine, sister Wanda (Marv Deneau), and nephew Noah Russell.

A special thank you to his good friend Grant Gillmore and his friends at Eastwood Manor.

In keeping with Allan's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service.

Condolences

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. I have been helping Al out with housework, etc. for the last 4 years. We had a wonderful connection and lots of laughs. He talked a lot about his youngest granddaughter, son and daughter-in-law. I heard a lot of funny stories and all about his life. We had many conversations over the last few months about death and how he wanted it to be. He could be very stubborn at times too and I always lost. He met my grand twins and he left an impression on them as well. When they heard of his passing they were both sad to hear the news. They are 9. He loved children. Jason, you will always have the memories of your phone calls and silliness as he has told me about them. My heart goes out to you all and he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace my dear friend.
