The daughter of Ralph and Isabelle Beaton, Ruth was born in Baddeck and grew up in Coxheath, Nova Scotia. Ruth worked notably as the owner and manager of Hope's Convenience in Elmvale Ontario. Ruth was a lover of all animals and had a strong connection to her home on the East Coast. Ruth's sharp wit was well appreciated by those who knew her. Ruth's tea biscuits were legendary and many friends would hope to acquire the secret recipe enjoyed by so many over the years. Ruth had many nieces and nephews, coast to coast.
