Brenton passed away Sunday, November 14th, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Halifax, Brenton was the son of the late Stanley and Brenda Hubley.
Brenton worked alongside his wife Hazel for over 25 years with Edwards Fine Foods before they branched out on their own with the Coffee Cup Restaurant in Fairview and then the Port Hawkesbury Motel and Restaurant in Cape Breton.
Brenton is survived by his loving and devoted children Brenda (Craig Monk), Michael (Tanya), and Eric Blaney (Ann). Brenton’s great joy were his grandchildren. Brenton was a proud Papa to grandson, Nicholas and twin granddaughters, Jordan and Gillian. Brenton was an elder brother to sister, Linda ( Herman Kaiser) and brother Donald (Dolores). Brenton was a brother-in-law to Wayne Masters (Edith), Jeanette Foote ( Wayne Foote, deceased), Charles Masters (Barb), and Mark Masters (Cindy). Brenton was predeceased by his wife and true love, Hazel. He was also predeceased by his twin sister, Brenda, brothers Reginald, Robert, and Dallas, sister-in-law Cecilia (Edward Linloff), and parents-in-law Walter and Mary (Minnie) Masters. Brenton was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Brenton was social and outgoing and started most days sharing stories, laughs, and friendly debates over coffee and breakfast with his “coffee club”. A generous, kind, and fun loving man, Brenton was happiest when he could share in the special moments of the people who were close to him.
Brenton will be missed by many. A celebration of Brenton’s life will be held in the Ballroom of Brightwood Golf and Country Club Wednesday November 17th at 1pm. Donations can be made to the charity of your choosing.

One of the friendliest men I have ever met, Brenton never failed to warm my day. For the past 16 years he was like a surrogate father helping his extended family at the Celtic Corner. Always ready and willing to lend a hand, offer some quiet guidance with a smile and the ever present "oh my", Brenton was a rare and special man. His close relationships with his son Mike, daughter Brenda, grandson Nick and daughter-in-law Tanya were remarkable and admirable and says so much about the man. As I look at his spot just up from the fireplace I will always think fondly of him. Rest in peace Brenton - you have earned it.

Codolences to Brenton's Family. Got to know Brenton while working along side of him and Hazel as fellow Managers with Edwards Fine Food Ltd. He always had a smile and a joke. In later years he loved to talk about his children and all their achievments in life. He was so proud of each and every one of them. May his Memories guide you all through this difficult time. Bless you all. Darryl and Sheila Naugle, Wainwright, Alberta.

A larger than life man, I have enjoyed my memories of Brenton ever since being neighbours on Fairbanks Street. The nights after work where he'd bring home tons of KFC and tell us neighbourhood boys to help ourselves. He was always kind to all of us who hung around...may he Rest In Peace.

Dear Mike, Tanya, and Nick, I am so terribly sorry for the loss of Breton. He was a friend and a lovely man to me from the first day I met him at the motel in Port Hawksbury. He was so generous, and always took a keen interest in both our lives in the kitchen Mike. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know the strength to get through this will come. Craig F.

My condolences to your family. We were neighbours in Fairview and I eventually worked for Brenton when he first opened KFC in Fairview many years ago. I remember both Hazel and Brenton, they were a wonderful couple to work for.
