Obituary For Chad Ross Woodill
On March 9th, 2024, we lost our handsome, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and boyfriend, Chad Ross Woodill. This loss has left a void in our hearts and also those of his many cousins and friends.
He was born on August 7th, 1982, and was a gift to us for the 41 years we shared with him. He will be forever missed by his parents, Fred and Pam Woodill, brother Sean (Lisa), niece Olivia, nephew Reece, sister Erin Rose (Graeme), nieces Alyssa and Ainslie, girlfriend Kayla Berlinghoff, and her son, Jackson.
Chad’s childhood was spent surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who lived on the same street in Wellington, Nova Scotia. Here, he spent countless hours at family gatherings: birthdays, holidays, lake days, fires, drop-ins, and the list goes on. In his adult life, he lived and worked in Grand Prairie, Alberta, for a few years before returning home to Nova Scotia to be closer to family and especially to be part of the lives of his nieces and nephew.
Chad loved being outside in nature. Sharing the outdoors with others brought him joy. He spent his free time exploring, fishing, boating, camping, and snowboarding. He also loved chasing waterfalls and was passionate about music. He was the DJ at any gathering and would often arrive at an event with his speaker in hand.
No description of Chad would be complete without the mention of his deep pleasure of food. He ate every bite with excitement, rarely able to get it in fast enough. Wellington Pizza and donair dip were two of his favorites, while Cheez Whiz on Ritz crackers made up his comfort food. His nieces and nephew were always able to find candy when Uncle Chad was around; on his kitchen counter, in his car, falling out of his pockets, candy was always nearby.
Humor was a huge part of Chad’s personality, enabling him to easily connect with others. He was happiest when laughing or making others laugh. All those who knew him will remember his unique laugh, which we lovingly refer to as his “titter,” his grandfather Daniels’ term for it. When Chad laughed, we all laughed. Along with this was his beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes that sparkled with a mischievous twinkle.
Chad loved and respected all animals. He had a special bond with his 17-year-old cat, Boots, who brought him much comfort.
Chad was a very non-judgmental person. He loved all people and accepted them for whomever they were. He appreciated people who were genuine and authentic. This is also how he lived his own life. He had a presence that lit up every room and endeared him to all who met him. To know Chad was to love him. He had experienced a deep, reciprocated love for his family, both immediate and extended. He and his cousins were close, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Chad’s friends were so special to him as well. He cherished each friendship, most of which began in Liz Jansen’s preschool.
Chad’s legacy of kindness, authenticity, humor, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As you honor and remember Chad, may his spirit continue to inspire and uplift you.
We love you Buddy, “AS FAR AS THE SKY GOES”!
