Charles Edwin Landry Age 74 of Lower Sackville, NS passed away peacefully on May 11th 2021 surrounded by his immediate family. He was the son of the late Robert Simon Landry and Marion Dehila (nee Fraughton) Landry of Bright Street, Halifax. Charles’s smile, kind words, and helpful hand will be missed by many who had the pleasure of meeting him, and if you have - he would have touched your life and provided you with a life lesson. After his retirement of 28 years with Nova Scotia Power he could always be found ‘puttering’ in his garage or getting his hands dirty in his garden. He now will be busy tending to the rose bushes in God’s Garden. Charles is survived by his wife Eileen, daughters Yvette (Richard) of Ottawa and Charlene (Lawrence) of Eastern Passage. His grandsons Anthony Healy & Connor Folan, who are both chips off the old block, and his step grandsons Stefan Hoerdt; Spencer Hoerdt; Lukas Gray-Hoerdt; and Gavin Fisher. Brothers David (Ethel) Landry, John (Nancy) Landry, Joseph (Lynda) Landry, Stephen (Anne) Landry, Marjorie Gardiner and Cathy (Paul) Keliher. His sister in law, Glenda Landry and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by brother, James Landry. As per his wishes, there will be no service or viewings. Donations in Charles’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.donaldkwalker.ca. Keep discovering, Dad.

Eileen, Yvette and Charlene I was deeply saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. I have such fond memories of coming to your house to visit with my mom and dad. Charlie always had a great big smile and a twinkle in is eye as a little teasing was going on. He was such a wonderful human - amazing husband, father, and friend. Heaven gained a great one, until we meet again Charlie. Sending lots of love and hugs to you Eileen, Yvette and Charlene. Erica, Clancy, Braden and Haleigh Foley

What can one say about a man as wonderful and kind as Charlie. He had the warmest smile and a great sense of humor, you just couldn't help but smile whenever he said ""hello"". My heartfelt condolences to Eileen, Yvette and Charline and all of the Landry family. He will be truly missed.

I worked with Charlie at Nova Scotia Power over the years, and always found him a pleasant and obliging individual with a ready smile that let you know he was there to help or just share a story. I was also fortunate to become a neighbour, when he gave me an early heads up on an approaching house sale on First Lake. Over his retirement years, I'd frequently spot Charlie doing his constitutional walk around the neighbourhood with Eileen or a couple of friends. On occasion, while out for a walk, I'd drop in as he sat relaxing in his back yard or busied himself with one of his many projects - which he'd proudly describe. I visited him last in this manner in July 2020 and we reminisced about our years at NSPI. I offer my sincere sympathies to his family for their loss, and express my appreciation for a gentleman with the capacity to bring a smile to your face whenever you encountered him.

Chandler Drive had lost another original. Charlie was a wonderful neighbour and friend to my parents, Howie and Jean from the time they all moved to Sackville in the very early seventies. When I think of Charlie I always see his big smile and the twinkle in his eyes. He is probably having a game of lawn croquette with dad and beating him. We are so very sorry for your loss Eileen and family. Sandra (Nuttall) Colville and family.

I will always have a picture in my mind of a gentleman with a big smile ,a cap and a walking stick walking down the street. Charlie came to help us and other neighbours when needed. I remember the day my father fell through a fabric chair. Bob wasn't home and I couldn't get him out. Who are you going to call? CHARLIE. He came right away and rescued Dad. Charlie was careful with his words. He knew what to say. He once described a back yard as " a wonderful array of colour ". His sense of humour was keen and appreciated. A good man, an honourable man , Charlie will be sadly missed. It was good to know him. Condolences to Eileen and the family. Fran and Bob Gibb

Eileen and girls.....I am so very sorry to hear of Charlie's death. I didn't know him well but nonetheless I have great memories of his smile & spirit over the years when he helped Stephen building the front verandah for Mommy and when he was working at Mary Celine's. And many other times at Anne & Stephen's home. He had a gift for making the day brighter. I will keep all of you in my prayers. God Bless.

I was both shocked and saddened when I read of Charlie's passing in the newspaper. I worked with Charlie for many years at NS Power and in later years he became my direct supervisor at Lakeside. I actually worked out of the Ragged Lake communications maintenance shop. We had, I believe, a good working relationship. We could agree to disagree but it never affected our relationship. After I retired from NS Power in 1997 I would often run into Charlie on my walks around the neighborhood. He would often be outside tending his garden or woodpile. I would stop and we would chat, catching up on past news. I am going to miss those chats. My sincere condolences to Eileen and his family. Doug Peck

Dear Eileen and family, We were devastated to read of Charlie's passing in this morning's paper. As is common knowledge to all who knew him, Charlie was a warm and friendly man who was considerate of others. I remember when he used to regularly visit Mrs. Laplante after she lost her husband. He was the perfect example of a gentleman and family man that few can emulate. I first met Charlie when I sold him my Hyundai Pony for his daughter. Since then, we often met on the street, in the Mission Store, etc. and Charlie was always cheerful. He will be missed but not forgotten. God Bless you all at this difficult time. Ray & Diane Aubé

When we moved to Sackville in 1972, Charlie was the first person to come over and welcome us to the neighbourhood. We became close friends and travelled to work together at Nova Scotia Power. I'll always have the great memories of our hunting trips up to Tangier Grand Lake, where Charlie and my father would rise at daybreak to pick cranberries and watch for deer on the bog. Over supper, we'd sit around the table and have a few sociables while telling stories. He was like a brother to me and it is a great loss to us all that such a kind and caring man is gone from our lives. All our love to Eileen and family. Dale & Heather Cooper

So sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I always watched for him to walk past our house with you or his group of buddies from Chandler. I can see him with his cane swinging and his hat on and that big smile. He was such a nice and pleasant man. I missed seeing him this past while and didn't knw why as I dealt with the death of my husband in January. Eileen, I am here if you want talk or go for a walk at any time. My sincere condolences to you and your family. May the many great memories help you as you grieve his loss. He is at peace. Judy

Sorry for all of your loss. What a beautiful obituary. It is how I will remember Charlie puttering around with a great big smile. He was so patient. He taught me how to make a pie crust although I still haven't quite mastered it. Sending big hugs and love xoxo
