Obituary For Christian Casmier Ludwicki

LUDWICKI, Christian Casmier – Fall River

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted husband, father and grandfather on December 21st, 2020. Christian, 71, passed away at home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Rowena, son Michael (Tiffany), daughter Christina (Mark), and granddaughters Emma and Aurora. He was predeceased by his son Thomas, and parents Kasmier and Louise.

Born in Longueil France on June 27, 1949, Christian immigrated to Montreal where he spent his formative years. His love of film and photography led him to his first job at NDG photo, where he captured the world around him. This world was mainly comprised of time spent between Montreal and the family home in La Macaza, surrounded by friends and adventures. It was in La Macaza that he met his love, Rowena, in 1968. They would marry on May 18th, 1974, and have three children Michael, Thomas and Christina.

His 20 year career with Air Canada led to the transfer of his family to Fall River, Nova Scotia in 1989. Here they would spend every Sunday packing a lunch, and hiking into the woods beyond their house, and spending countless hours laughing around the dining table. He brought adventure and knowledge to his kids at every turn, from scouting, to science projects, to learning how to help around the house, there was nothing he couldn’t do or build.

In the 1990’s and 2000’s he worked in sales for Mitten Vinyl and Kent Building Supplies, where he would travel around the province, many times accompanied by his love Rowena. They loved finding new bed and breakfasts, and seeing all the beautiful corners of Nova Scotia. During this time his children grew, as did their dinner table, accompanied by a gang of misfits always welcome and full of laughter.

After his retirement, he became a school bus driver, which would quickly become his most fulfilling job. He loved his days spent with the kids, being a friend, and a listening ear. He would come home fulfilled, and regale his family with cards, pictures and stories from that day.

In September of 2018, he nearly lost his life due to undiagnosed cancer, but due to his sheer determination, he fought to survive, and we were blessed with another 2 years of memories, love and laughter. His stories, his laughter, his knowledge will be forever missed.

    We only learned yesterday that Christian passed away, we went to La Macaza and expected to see Christian and Rowena there, he was always talking about retiring there. He loved La Macaza. I knew him since June 27, 1949, we were neighbors in Longeville-les-St.Avold, Moselle the midwife came to the house at the time. However Louise had to go to the Hospital for a couple of weeks right after giving birth to him and my Mom took care of Christian, he was family. His family left for Canada early in 1952, when Barbara was old enough to travel. Christian picked me up from the TRANSCANADA when I came to Montreal in June 1959 and I stayed with them for 6 months. He was full of life, always active, when he was 14 he wanted to drive my new car, we were in La Macaza and I figured he could do it, well within 2 min he hit a fence. Visited him once in Halifax and he served us a delicious Lobster meal. So many wonderful memories. Our sincere condolences to the family Gitta, Heinz and Michael Brokamp, Senneville, Que

    I was shocked and saddened to hear of Christian's passing. I met Christian at Stock Transportation when I was working in the office between runs and he was always kind, cheerful and respectful of everyone. In August Christian took me out on a road test. Although these tests make me nervous I felt totally relaxed with him and was relieved to have him as my examiner. He told me he would be driving for CSAP in September and I was grateful to have him as one of our drivers. Christian will leave a huge gap in this world. My sincere condolences and huge hugs to his family.

    Please accept my heartfelt condolences in regard to Christian's passing. We worked together as part of the Training Team and shared Road Testing duties for National Passenger Services (Stock Transport) for many years. I always admired, Chris, for his dedication to meet all challenges and successfully complete the most difficult tasks while helping everyone on our team. I will truly miss his presence and feel honored to have met him and been a friend.....Eric.

    I remember meeting him for the first time when he was a spare driver for Stock. What a kind person he was. I gave him a ride home a few times. Then as we went in different directions within the company he would always have a warm greeting and smile for me, always so kind. I can't believe he's gone. My sincerest condolences to his family.     It is with a heavy heart to say goodbye to such an individual who had such a wide reaching impact on his coworkers. Christian's challenges over the past few years were overwhelming but he never let it stand in his way of fulfilling his role of developing new employees for National Passenger Services (Stock) Christian will be missed deeply by his work family.
