Obituary For Edna Irvine MacLellan

Edna Irvine MacLellan

Passed May 5, 2022

We are sad to announce the passing of Edna Maclellan, 101, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

Born in Westville, Nova Scotia to the late John A. and Laura (Dooley) McNaughton.

Edna spent her career at Dartmouth Medical Center (1960-1985) where she retired as the medical center’s Office Manager. Upon retirement Edna spent many winters in Fort Myers, Florida where she made a legion of friends from across the United States and Canada.

Edna was a bridge enthusiast and loved afternoons playing bridge with her club members. She was comfortable with computers (her laptop and iPad) and enjoyed on-line shopping, banking, card games and reading and replying to her e-mails.

Edna was fiercely independent, she loved life and easily made friendships that endured. She had a large circle of friends and supporters which enabled her to live comfortably and independently in her home. We would like to thank Carole, Nancy and Joyce for their support. She is survived by her son, John (Sonia), grandson John Good (Catherine Crosbie) and great grandson, James. She was predeceased by her husband (Colin) in 1991 and her brother, John Robert.

Thanks, are also extended to Doctors Lawless and Hunter, as well as the nursing staff at 5 East, Dartmouth General Hospital for their outstanding care, compassion and professionalism. Also, we would like to thank Northwood Home Care and the VON for the important care and support provided to Edna over the last few years.

Cremation has taken place; a private interment will occur at a later date.

So saddened to hear of Edna's passing. She was my first boss at the young age of 18 after graduating from what was then Dartmouth Vocational School (Secretarial). She taught me great work ethics. We kept in touch over the years and I always enjoyed her Christmas cards, especially the ones from Florida... rest in peace Catherine MacEachern

Deepest sympathies John and Family. Edna did not want to be called Aunt Edna...just Edna she would say. She enjoyed spending weeks at our cottage with Nana and Marion (The Golden Girls we called them). We have special memories of them being here that we will never forget. She will be missed. Dan and Germaine Duffy
