Passed away peacefully in Halifax Northwood Manor on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the age of 72. Eileen was born on July 4, 1947 in Saskatoon, Sask, The eldest daughter of the late Pater and Ada (Lewis) Karpanof (Borden, Sask.) She is survived by brother, Don (Elsie) Karpan, Regina, Sask.; sister, Janet (Jerry) Hickey, Timberlea; as well as a niece, two nephews and several close friends. She spent her childhood and teen years in Borden, Sask. Eileen joined the Royal Canadian Navy in October 1965 where she served ten years as a communications operator. Her career was cut short due to a car accident in 1975. Eileen was a very strong-willed woman and nothing was going to get in her way. She beat all odds and was able to enjoy life once again. Eileen was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion and Big Sisters, just to mention a few. She was an avid crib player, crossword wizard and the game of curling was her passion in her younger years. Anyone who knew her liked her right away. She had a great sense of humour and and enjoyed a nice glass of wine. No visitation. A family committal service will be held at a later date in Borden, Sask, where her ashes will be interred next to her parents. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
