Obituary For Harold "Fred" Frederick Franklin

FRANKLIN, Harold (Fred) Frederick (90) - Hatchet Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 14, 2022. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late William and Nellie (George) Franklin.

Fred loved to support his large family, in order to do so he managed many jobs, such as working at a moving company, Abitoire, waterfront, and Entrepreneur of the Club Road corner store etc. He thoroughly enjoyed betting on the harness races, playing guitar, horseshoes, cottage weekends, camping and playing cards with family and friends. He was the strongest, kind-hearted, most generous person and would always say "Be Careful" when someone was leaving his house. He was always thinking about everyone else.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Pat (McInnis), sons Mike (Krista), Billy, Freddie (Kelley), daughters, Brenda (Carl) and Nancy (Larry), brother Freeman - Ontario, many grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws and extended family members. Besides his parents Fred was predeceased by his brothers Clarence and Gary, sisters June and Marie, daughter Catherine and grandson James.

Cremation will be in trust of Donald K. Walker funeral homes. A service will be held at the Sunrise Park Cemetery, 2025 Prospect Road, Hatchet Lake at a later date and Celebration of Life to follow.

Condolences

I am saddened to read of Freddy's passing. I grew up on Saint Albans St, with my family next to the Franklin and McInnis families. Fred provided me with a number of work experiances while I was quite young. I ran for snacks for him and his crew when he oversaw painting the outside of our buildings, protected his (Canada Dry?) pop truck from having pop taken while he was able to get home for a lunch, and I even did some babysitting for their children. Freddy was very kind to me and I will always remember him. My condolences to Patsy in particular and to the rest of the family.

Just wishing you all peace in your hearts. Bill grew up with the family, however, I have only known them for about 25 years. I am so great full for that. I remember Freddy as a quiet man who sat and watched everything going on, from playing cards or washers. I know he will be greatly missed by all. The memories will be the greatest things you can hang on to. Love to the whole family. Sue & Billy Avery North Vancouver

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Fred Franklin, a husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather who was dear to our heart. I considered Fred a second father to me as I grew up with his children and he always made me feel like I was part of the family. I have lots of wonderful memories of fun, laughter and joy with Fred and his family. My last visit with Fred I will cherish as he was having a great day playing cards with Pat and Michael and he was in great spirits and feeling good. I admired Fred's strength and courage as he battled with cancer and other health issues over the past years. Fred was a kind, caring, fun loving and wonderful and compassionate man who had a selfless nature and he was loved by everyone who crossed his path. Fred will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and many of those in his community who knew him. .May the sorrow you feel in your hearts lighten by the love that surrounds you during this difficult time. Know that you will always have the wonderful memories to cherish and comfort you. Also Fred is not suffering anymore and he is resting peacefully with loved ones that have gone before him. God's love and many prayers are all around you, now and for as long as it takes. Love Sharon and Ron MacDonald
