It is with deep sadness that we announce Jim’s sudden passing at home on May 17, 2022. Born on June 9, 1946 in Halifax, he was pre-deceased by his parents Dorman (Bill) and Christine and younger brother Donald.
Jim is survived by his sister Sharon Michaud (Len) and nephews Michael (Tracy) and David (April) and Michael’s children William, Tristan and Ashleigh, who all reside in Ottawa. He also leaves behind cousins in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Jim graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax and then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was stationed in Comox, BC, Cornwallis, NS, Sioux Lookout, ON and CFB Halifax. After leaving the armed forces he worked at several car dealerships in the Halifax area and once he retired he walked miles in and around Windsor Junction with his beloved German Shepherds Izzy and then Quincey. He enjoyed volunteering at the Halifax Jazz Fest and was an avid reader and sports fan, so if he wasn’t watching the action on TV could be seen sitting in the sun with a novel in his hands.
We would like to thank his friends Frank and Amanda and Ray and Dawn and his other neighbours who have been there for him the past few years while he dealt with various health issues.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Halifax at a later date.
If you wish to commemorate Jim please donate to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Sharon and Len, Michael, David, William, Tristan and Ashleigh. So sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathies. I always think of Jim and his love of dogs, he especially loved German Shepards. He was so thankful for his neighbour's helping out. Jim was the master of barbecued salmon. He always looked forward to his sister's visit, Sharon's boys and her grandchildren. Big hugs to all of you💕

Sharon, My deepest condolences to you and your family. Jim has been a good friend and wonderful neighbour for the past 26 yrs when we purchased our Charleswood home beside him way back in 1996. Always a terrific conversationalist and cheerful character. Witty and with a great sense of humor. He will be missed and always remembered as a special person in our small local community. Deepest sympathy from the Stanley family at 65 Charleswood Drive, Windsor Junction. God bless. Larry, Kerri, Noah and Alicia

I knew Jim for many years while growing up together on Chester Ave in Halifax. Jim always had a big smile and loved to chat. I would spend many a time in his family home being fed until I couldn't move from the chair. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Oh and Jim when I speak of you I am still referring to you as Jimmy and always will. Heather (Greig) Wood

I have many nice memories of Jim. I first met him when he was about 11 years old and he was wearing brown dress pants, a white shirt with a brown bow tie - apparently Bill and Christine wanted him to make a good impression - and he indeed did. With deepest sympathy, Ann McKee
