Joan Elizabeth Henneberry, 86, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Heather, on April 8, 2018, surrounded by her family. Born in Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Ralph & Elizabeth (Downey) Keddy. Joan was a professional ballroom dancer, and spent many years teaching & competing both in Canada & Internationally. Following this, she was a favorite food waitress at the Hub Beverage Room for 14 years and loved the chance to exchange jokes & stories with all of her customers. She also worked with her daughters Tina and Heather, at Arby’s Restaurant. Family always came first for Joan, and she loved spending as much time as possible with them. Joan is survived by her children, Tom (Thelma) Henneberry, Heather (Kevin) Clare, Janet (Bill) White, and Tina (Mike) Kays. Grandchildren, Michelle, Stephen, Tommy, Bryan, Michael, Cathy, Justin, Aaron, and Logan, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including very special niece, Jeanne (Campbell) Foran. She was also survived by her “second family” Mary (Henneberry) (Pettipas) Braiden, Kitty (Wilf) Arsenault, Leo Henneberry, and Jayne (Warren) Nickerson. Joan was predeceased by her sister Marjorie (aka Meme) Campbell, brothers Harold (aka Wowie) Keddy and Aubrey Keddy. Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A celebration of Joan’s life with friends and family will be held at a later date. Special thanks are extended to Mitch and the Palliative Care Team, Northwood Home Care Team, VON Nurses, especially Caroline, and the Medigas Team, especially Matt, who made her stay at home possible. Also special thanks extended to the EMT Teams who came to our rescue on several occasions. On-line condolences, words of support, memories, may be sent to the family at www.donaldkwalker.ca.

Joan was my "second" mom growing up during my early childhood. Joan treated me as if I was one of her daughters! Spending weekends at her house (sleepovers with Tina - my best buddy), going to Tony's store to get candy, trips to the Ice Cream Factory, camping trips to Sherwood Forest, dancing in her dance studio (going to the Corte dances in Halifax), drinking Pepsi floats, watching the Donny & Marie show Friday nights, sharing Christmas/Halloween/Easter with her family, sleeping in their camper parked in the driveway, etc.....the list can go on and on and on! I looked forward to every Christmas season, at my house, waiting for Tina and Joan (sometimes Logan and Janet) to visit and have lunch and my homemade Christmas cookies! Joan knew I loved her! Thank you so much for everything, Joan! Heaven has another angel! Big hugs to my best friend, Tina; Janet, Heather, Tom and families! Kelly (Conrod) Eaglestone *My father, Tom, and my sister, Janet, send their condolences, too! xoxoxo
