Obituary For Joan Marlene Kaiser
Joan Marlene Kaiser, 71 – Cole Harbour, N.S.
On September 15, 2020 heaven became a whole lot brighter, as we said farewell to our devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Marlene passed away peacefully at home with family by her side, six months after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Thanks to the support from her daughter Tammy, she was able to spend her last months continuing to enjoy her favourite activities of quilting, knitting, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, baking, cooking, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
Marlene was born September 27, 1948 in Port Bickerton. She is survived by her soulmate and spouse Havelock, son Tony (Shelley), daughter Tammy Beck (Chris), grandchildren Andrew (Hillary), Devin (Hailey), Kelby (Gina), Christopher, Laura (Devin), Sam and, great grandchildren Gabriel, Greysen, Ava and Lexi, siblings Philip (Vicki), Kevin (Donna), Anne Hanlon (Pat), several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Wesley and Laura Kaiser, in-laws Maurice and Jean Kaiser, infant son Thomas, and sister Monica.
As a young lady Marlene worked at Bickerton Fisheries, then was a book keeper for her husbands fishing boat while being a homemaker and the best mom ever. She babysat her grandsons and spent her last working years as a guide at Sherbrooke Village. She and Havelock spent the last 4 winters living with Tammy, Chris and family in Cole Harbour and summers at their travel trailer at Harbour Lights in Braeshore. Living in these places provided her with the opportunity to renew lifelong friendships and spend happy times with Evelyn and Blaine Williamson and Helen and Bud Kaiser.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family memorial service with spreading of ashes will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Anglican Church in Port Bickerton, Cole Harbour or Pictou, or charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oncology Unit at the Dixon Centre, Shannon Purcell and Palliative Care Team, and friend Michelle Bissett for your care and compassion, as well Reverend Katherine Bourbonniere for your support.
“Thank-you for giving us someone so special to make us into better people.”
