Obituary For John "Jack" Warren Hirschfeld
John (Jack) W. Hirschfeld, 78, of Lower Sackville, NS, passed away on February 20, 2022, at home.
Dad was predeceased by parents John and Eileen Hirschfeld, and brothers Marlin and Gary.
Dad is survived by sister Helen (Jim) Morgan, brothers Glenn (Carolyn), Dennis (Susan), and half-sister Nola Stoddard, son Wade (Debra), daughter Michelle (Trent) Belyea, as well as grandchildren Joshua, Courtney, Danielle, and Robby.
Dad is also survived by the mother of his children, Barbara Churnside and former spouse, Patricia Willdey. The family would like to thank Patricia for the companionship and care provided to Dad in his final years.
Dad was a beloved father and grandfather. Family was everything to Dad and his lessons of love, and moral values will guide us forever. Most striking was his sense of fairness and honesty. He was kind and a friend to all.
Dad loved all sports, whether as a spectator or a player. His passion for sports was a joy to behold. He was active in the community and coached minor hockey when his children were younger. He had a long and respected career in the Canadian Forces where he served for 32 years. He retired as a Master Warrant Officer in the Air Force. He then went on to fail happily at retirement by beginning a second career with Hostess Frito Lay. Dad was not one to stay idle for long.
Dad enjoyed being outdoors, and in the yard doing chores. He loved to travel the roads and find yard sales. And those who knew him know how much he loved finding the deals!
He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.

Due to Covid restrictions, there will be a small family service by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Truly and deeply saddened to learn of Jack's passing. I knew him from our time together at Shearwater, when he worked in Manpower Distribution. A most pleasant, affable and kind hearted man who always gave his best effort, we shared many enjoyable conversations through the years, both while at Shearwater and through occasional meetings in grocery stores while he worked with Frito-Lay... a job which he also enjoyed a great deal. I note that he was always "looking for a bargain", so it was a unique privilege to have sold him my ride-on lawnmower some years ago, when I upgraded. I hope he got many good years of use out of it. 🙂 It is my hope and prayer that he is safely in the arms of the Lord now and forever. Rest in Peace, Jack. My most deep and sincere condolences to the Family.

It is so very sorrowful to read of Jack's passing. I had the tremendous honour and privilege of knowing Jack in our. shearwater days. I consider any day I got to chat with him one of the better days. It is with a note of deep personal sadness to learn of Jack's passing. I had the honour to work with Jack both at Shearwater and at sea. He was one wonderful individual, a man of true moral fibre and and excellent individual. His counsel to me was always flawless and he held my utmost respect and admiration. I wish him fair winds and following seas. I will always remember him in my heart. My sincere condolences to the family.
