Met Johnny years ago through a friend of mine . Condolences to the Oicle family and friends Edwin Balcom (Booie)

Sad to learn of Johnny's passing...as a friend and co-worker to Ida, I looked with great admiration upon the Oickle Family. Their closeness and regard for each other was wonderful. I met most of the family through Ida and had more dealings with those who worked with Barry, who on many occasions came to BroMoc. Honestly, I can not recall how I came to meet Johnny but once I had it was uncanny because somehow we often bumped into each other. We have a Camp near to Sheet Harbour and it seemed every time we went there for gas or supplies I found Johnny ! The last time we spoke was several months ago when we stopped at the same gas station and we joked, "we have to stop meeting like this." I know he was a very good man; from Ida's chats and then personal greetings; I believe I know how deeply you all must be grieving; my most sincere condolences.

My condolences to Sanadra and the Oickle Family on Johnny's passing. One of a kind character that makes one smile.

I feel so sad with the passing of Johnny ,It is so hard to loose someone that we love maybe we never stayed in contact but his name and other names would come up when we talked about growing up, I have good memories going out to Aunt Ida"s and Uncle Barry's doing fun things My last memory is when we went to cut down Xmas trees and Johnny lost one off the truck said he would stop and buy one, have no Idea who it was for but we had a laugh over it. You will have good thoughts and you will cherish each and every one , a special branch has broken off the tree, love to you all and hugs Carol xx

John was a good friend for many years.Sandra,Audrey,John andI traveled many times together in our motor home enjoying golfing and just traveling around the province.Enjoyed playing cards and having the (ODD) glass of red wine.John,rest in peace and I am sure we will meet again.Todd Butler

I'm so very saddened to hear of Johnny's passing. He could give off a rough exterior, but it was easy enough to break thru as he loved to torture and could take a good jostling too! ; saucy sense of humour! I'm glad I always hugged him goodbye 💞 Never not by Sandra's side in the 5 years I was around, he was a reliable partner, more than happy to just be with his wife and not just her husband but her right hand...her constant. I am sincerely saddened by John's passing. I met John about 27 years ago at the Sandtrap bar & grill over some good food with Sandra and Paul. 27 years of visits, meals and evenings at the legion playing pool can seem like a long time, but it really does go by too fast. When someone has been a part of your family for such a long time you are thankful for the memories.

Oh, I am so sad to hear this news. As a paddler at Cheema we had many, many occasions off the water to carry on, have a drink, and generally joke around. John could hold his own in any discussion. His curly mustache added a dimension to his story. RIP John!
