Obituary For Joseph K Awalt

Joseph K. Awalt (Joe) 91 of Beaverbank, NS

It is with great sadness we, the family of the late Joe Awalt, let you know that our Father passed away on February 9, 2022.

Left to mourn his passing are his children; Christine Buell (Clayton), Linda Fortune (George), Steven (Annette), Joey (Lynn). His much loved grand children: David (Denise), Steven (Leah) Fortune; Kenneth Awalt and Alison Mason. Great grandson Brady and great granddaughter Autumn.

Dad loved his family and worked hard all his life to provide for us. He loved music, and could play just about any instrument you put in his hand especially the 4 string banjo. He and Mom (Rita) married at a young age back in 1952, and were together for 68 years until Moms' death in August 2021.

We have comfort in knowing that Mom was waiting on the other side, and they are now waltzing together once again. Forever in our hearts and in our memories.

Christine and family sorry for your loss. Joe was a great man. I remember when I was a child and Joe & Rita lived next door and Joe would come to the house with his banjo and Bub and my dad would play for hours. I will always remember Joe in the pitcher where he sitting on his motorcycle in front of our house. Diana (O"Hearn) Conrad.

I remember going to all the dances at the different Legions and community halls with Rita and Joe. The song Amanda was one of their favorites as well as The Tennessee Waltz. They danced with a grace and easy of being long time partners. It was a joy just to watch. They are certainly dancing in heaven. We were always treated like family. Lots of wonderful memories. Sending the family hugs and prayers. Love Anne and Lynn

My dear Christine, Linda, Stephen what I remember Little Joey. He was so cute! Your walked Michael to school on his first day. Your mom was my best friend when we lived next door in Waverly and Joe was her rock. You might remember us by the name of Harrison, now Lutz for the past 50 years. Darrell & I stopped on our motorcycle to visit your mom and dad many years ago but then we lost touch. They were wonderful neighbors and friends. So sorry for your loss. Love Sharon

Dear Christine and family. I was very saddened to learn of Joe's passing this morning. When I was young he and Rita treated me like another daughter. Joe was the one who took me water-skiing for the first time and I was hooked! Always lots of laughs with Joe and Rita dancing in the kitchen. You gave me many fond memories that I will always cherish. Love and prayers Peggy (Currie) Ferguson
