Obituary For Keith Murray Woods
Keith Murray Woods died peacefully in Halifax on June 7th, 2018 at the age of 69.
Keith is survived by his wife Margo and their daughter Annette, along with his brothers John, Eric, Mike, Victor (Tom), Chris, and Warren, and sisters Irene, Joan, Anne, and Debbie. He is preceded in death by his brother Danny.
Keith was born in Halifax to the late Catherine and Clinton Woods. He married Margo, the love of his life, on June 14th, 1980 and their love was plainly evident to all. June 14th was a date of great importance to Keith; both his parents and his maternal grandparents were wed on that day.
Keith had an extremely strong sense of community, with a particular passion for helping others over his entire lifetime. He loved all his family and friends dearly and had a talent for making connections with others easily. He was Halifamous: his brother Mike once said, “If you go anywhere with Keith or Danny, you will be stopped by many people, and if you go anywhere with both, good luck.” His animated nature drew children, in particular, to him - his special handshake and ear pop were legendary.
Keith’s official occupation was an appliance repairman; his niece, Mamie-Jane once said, “Call uncle Keith, he can fix anything but a dead man!” But his actual livelihood encompassed so much more than any one title. He was a man of many talents: he was artistic, having been a photographer and a maker of award winning stained glass, giving away time and creations freely. He loved boats, fishing, ice skating, dancing, music, boxing, Judo, and cars. Stoic to the very end, he didn’t believe in complaining or living with regrets. His philosophy was to forgive wholeheartedly. He lived his life by the Catholic faith, praying constantly and deriving great comfort from prayer.
A funeral is scheduled for Thursday June 14th at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, with a reception to follow in the church hall. The ceremony will be officiated by Father Paul MacIntosh. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Keith’s life. Donations may be sent to St. Catherine of Siena St. Vincent de Paul Society, or to the QEII Hospital Orthopedics Unit. Interment to follow at a later date in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village, Nova Scotia.
