Obituary For Kenneth "Ken" Winston Forgeron

It is with great sadness, I announce the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Winston Forgeron on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, in his home at Northwood in Halifax, NS; at the age of 81.

He was born on July 25th, 1941 in Halifax to the late Thompson and Mary (Lahey) Forgeron.

In his earlier years, he was a baseball player having pitched for the Halifax Cardinals. He was an avid hockey fan and baseball fan. He was truly a kind and gentle man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved going to church and talking with anyone who would listen.

Nancy McLeod (social worker at Northwood), reconnected Ken and his daughter Susan prior to his dementia setting in and she is truly grateful for Nancy’s efforts. Susan was lucky to have learned from Ken how to pitch and throw a hard ball and share his interest in hockey.

Ken had a very difficult journey throughout his life. He struggled daily with mental health issues and because of this, he had difficulty staying employed.

Ken is predeceased by his parents Thompson and Mary (Lahey) Forgeron of Halifax; sisters Bernadette and Louise (Smith); brothers Gregory and Wayne, all of Halifax; and son Mark Kenneth Forgeron (at the age of 23).

Ken is survived by daughters Susan Marie Pothier (Paul) and Cheryl Lynn Forgeron (Rob); grandchildren Brittany Catherine Forgeron and Tyler Forgeron Oickle; great-grandchildren Kingston Avery Raymond Ashe and Hensley; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and his cousin Fulton Forgeron and his wife Dale.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service. A private burial at a later date. In memory of Ken, it is suggested to perform a random act of kindness to a random person and make their day a little happier.
