Obituary For Kevin "Barry" Giles

GILES, Kevin "Barry"

Also known to his best friends as “The Commissioner” or “Fudge”, Barry passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home, in Halifax, on August 27, 2022. He was 68. Born in Montreal on June 10, 1954, Barry was the elder son of the late Francis Carroll “Bud” Giles and the late Helen Claudia (Winters) Giles. At the time of his death, he had been retired for some years. Barry loved all sports, but most especially NHL hockey, Major League baseball, and the NFL, and he could more than hold his own in any discussion about any of them, especially when it came to his draft selections for the various pools he always seemed to be organizing. He is survived by his brother, Gavin (QC) (Denise Stirling), Halifax; his aunt, Naureen Marcipont, Kingston; several cousins, and his many loyal friends at the Oasis in Halifax, whom he counted as family. Barry’s remains have been cremated. As was his frequent expression, there will be no visitation or service.
