Passed away peacefully at the age of 89, in Camp Hill Veterans Hospital. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, of the late Lysle Harold Caslake and Edith (Yabush) Caslake (d. 1935), and stepson of the late Emillie LaMarche. A graduate of Dalhousie University School of Dentistry, Les practiced dentistry over a span of 50 years in Bridgewater Nova Scotia, before retiring to Halifax in 2013. Prior to his career in dentistry, he served as a pilot in the RCAF, RCN and in the Reserves in fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. Les was an avid skier, golfer and sailor. He was a lifetime member of the NS Schooner Association and owned three Schooners over his lifetime, which he loved to race with family and friends. He was a skilled woodworker and loved to make furniture.
Les is survived by his sons David (Kate) and Dana (Maureen) and their mother Ada Josephine Oulton; stepchildren Shawn (Jim) and Joe; and he leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years Maureen Ursula (Haggas) Caslake, and her children - Tanya (Mark), Odette (Andrew), and Michael, as well as many step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Glen, ex-wife Lois Claire Dennison Mulhall, and by her son Flying Officer Peter Mulhall, his wife Cheryl and their unborn child (accidentally). Special thanks to the staff of Camp Hill 4 Westwing for their outstanding care and compassion. Leslie’s brain was donated to the Maritime Brain Bank at his request and his remains cremated. No visitations or service at this time.

Dr.Caslake took over my care when I transitioned here full time from the Valley. He was able to do the 'white ' fillings, when many left patients with multiple visits, pain and failed procedures.. Dr.Caslake always had the time to talk about garden plants, Chris Craft ( wooden speed boats), Cessna airplanes - he took the time to show a genuine interest in people. Dr.Caslake would even see people if they weren't patients of his- always willing to help. He was a very fine man. I am saddened to hear of your loss. Sincere condolences.

Dr. Ewart Morse
A leader in dental techniques and a fine gentleman. I remember that schooner trip from Indian Point to RNSYS on Mora after her refit with Les and another friend. Super guy who was not afraid, even of trying ballet lessons with Maureen.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Dr. Caslake during the last stage of his career as a dentist. He was a wonderful person and I was frankly astounded by his resiliency and ability to practice well into his eighties. I also enjoyed his stories of flying with the military very much. Dr. Caslake was an inspiring person. My condolences to his family.

He was my dentist in the 70's when I worked for Michelin in Bridgewater. I've had a lot of dental work done since that time but he was the absolutely best dentist I've ever had. I alway told my dentists about how good he was. My condolences. He was a great man.
