Blades, Lorna Mae (Chetwynd) was a 68 year old, Blue Sapphire, Virgo. We are sad to announce the passing of Lorna Mae Blades of Baccaro, NS who died peacefully at home (September 2, 2021) surrounded by loved ones in Halifax. Lorna was a lady of very few words, but in her own way, she let us know what she was she thinking and what she wanted to say. She always did little things to show us how much she cared. She loved butterflies, horses, scratch tickets, country music and especially her iPad which allowed her to reconnect with friends and family and secretly check in on those with whom she had lost touch. She leaves behind 3 amazing children whom she absolutely loved, Linda Penney, Clayton Blades, Maurice Blades and 3 beautiful grandchildren. She will also be missed by her extended family, Linda (Wael) Mohamed and their 5 children, Jeannette (Ian) Howie and their 3 children, Mary Theriault, and many others through her extended family. She is survived by her 2 brothers Edgar Chetwynd (Elaine), Leonard Chetwynd (Mavis) and many nieces and nephews. Lorna was predeceased by her parents, Clayton and Hazel Chetwynd, brothers Blanchard, Sheldon, Delbert, Maurice, Stillman, and Rome. Lorna was predeceased by her common-law partner, Delbert Theriault of Meteghan Centre whom she loved and missed dearly and whose daughters, Linda, and Jeannette, took Lorna under their wing, and ensured she was well cared for during her battle and with whom she developed a special bond. Lorna’s extended family welcomed her in with open arms and loved her very much and will certainly miss her presence. We would like to thank Agnes Power, Lorna’s friend, and caregiver during her courageous battle with cancer, the VON and the Palliative Care Team along with the staff from Bayshore Home Health, and in particular, Natasha and Roxanne. Lorna will be truly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service by request. There will be a graveside ceremony on Thursday, September 9 at 11:00 am at Seaview Cemetery in Baccaro officiated by Reverend Brenda McCurdy. A donation can be made in Lorna’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of choice.
