Obituary For Lucy Marcella (Walker) Hadley

April 8th, 1951 – August 31st, 2024

Lucy Marcella Hadley, the heart and soul of her family, has danced her way into the arms of her angels, surrounded by those she cherished most. Our beloved Lucy, who brightened our lives with her unwavering love and generosity, is now reunited with her high school sweetheart and husband of 35 years, Scott.

“Together, they hold an eternal full house of hearts, with their love completing the family hand in the heavens.”

Lucy’s departure is met with bittersweet sorrow as she is embraced by the spirits of her cherished family —her loving parents, J. Albert and Maizie Walker; her in-laws, John Hadley and Mable Parks, who loved her as their own; her dear sister, Danna Mae Walker; her sister-in-law and friend, Joanne Ross; her sweet nephew Christopher Fillis.

A true queen of hearts, Lucy was not only a devoted mother and grandmother but also a beacon of kindness and warmth in her community. She touched the lives of many with her open door, festive holiday decorations, lively karaoke parties, and her ever-ready helping hand. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with laughter and love, and her legacy of caring extends to every friend and stranger she encountered.

Lucy leaves behind a heartbroken family, including her protective and loving sons and their families — John Michael and Stephen Sakalauskas, David and Steeve Hamel, her thoughtful and loving daughter Sally and Grant Trenholm, as well as her precious grandchildren: grandsons and best boys, Scott and Liam Trenholm, her beautiful granddaughters and best girls Emma Jean Hadley, and Caitlyn Trenholm. She also leaves behind her caring nephew, Jason Walker (Natalie), sweet niece Sarah Walker, and her dearest friend and confidante Lorraine Underwood.

She is survived by her siblings: Donald, Ronald (Debbie), Lorraine Harrietha (Barry), Jennie Anne Bignell (Kevin), and Christine Walker, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In the grand symphony of life, Lucy found a new melody with Mike Drew, her devoted partner of 17 years. Together, they shared joyous moments from Super Bowl parties and dancing to New Year's celebrations in Las Vegas. Lucy’s spirit was a dancing flame, brightening the lives of everyone around her, from Arizona to cruises around the world.

Her kindness and dedication were evident in the way she made everyone feel like family, often extending her love with a warm embrace or a heartfelt conversation. Lucy’s legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, a testament to the love and devotion she poured into each moment.

Lucy’s influence extended beyond her immediate circle as a funeral director; a dedicated member of the A.N.A.F.; and a steadfast supporter of the Beechville Church Community as she continued the legacy of her parents, touching countless lives with her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her community.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Lucy’s spirit will forever dance in our hearts, her song continuing to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of her life will take place at the J. Albert Walker Golden Age Social Center, 212 Herring Cove Road on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 between 6-8. This venue, rich with cherished memories, is a fitting tribute to honor her legacy.

Funeral Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 3311 Ashburn Ave, Wednesday September 4th ,2024 at 11 am.

Donations may be made to the J. Albert Walker Golden Age Social Centre.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible palliative care team and the staff at Parkland for their unwavering dedication and compassionate care during this challenging time. Your kindness and professionalism provided not only comfort but also a sense of peace and dignity that meant the world to us and our mom. We could not have done this without you.

Thank you to our friends and family. Your visits, text, food, and unconditional love reminded us everyday of our mother’s legacy of love.

Help your neighbours, be kind to a stranger or tell someone you love them, that will allow mom’s love to live forever ❤️

In honor of Mom's love and vibrant spirit, please consider wearing red or gold

When I was young, just out of high school my soon to be hubby used to mention the 'Walker Sisters' from out the road; Lucy and Danna. I finally got to meet your Mom while with my hubby at Sobeys of all places, she had such a beautiful wide smile, he recognized her right away and they had a happy conversation reminiscing their youth. Lucy gave us both wonderful hugs and soon was on her way... only then did he tell me -that was the 'Walker Sister' I hadn't met as I previously had met Danna. I met Lucy a few times after that time, and she always recognized me... such a sincere beautiful woman. Please accept my sincerest condolences on her passing, I know she will be so missed by all who knew her. ~~ Sharon Glazebrook

We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful and loving mom, Lucy. She was a very special woman who exuded fun and love wherever she was. She was a devoted wife to Scott, a fierce mother to John Michael, David and Sally, as well as a cherished grandmother. We enjoyed many parties of the Hadley home and at the Golden Age centre, dancing, laughing and having fun. Lucy and Scott knew how to throw a party. Lucy was kind and understanding and we had a few talks about things that I knew only she could understand. She was compassionate and thoughtful and always made you feel welcome. John Mike, David, Sally and families - I'm absolutely heartbroken to hear just now of Grandma Lucy's passing. It seems like for the past 10+ years anytime I was having fun, she was there. I loved spending time with her no matter what we were doing. There was always something going on - I remember at the campground we had to go to Frenchy's every hour, because they would put new stuff out. Drive in bingo was a ton of fun too. She truly was an angel on earth, and knew exactly how to make you feel better just by being there. Once in a while you meet incredible people you'll never forget, and I will treasure all of our adventures forever. You were truly one of a kind, and I'll never forget the stories you told. Love you forever Grandma Lucy. ❤️ Love Kirk Campbell (another one of your 'best boys')

Sweet Lucy... our lady in red. I told you many times how I would not have made in through 2022 without you. Your friendship, advice and support along with Lorraine gave me strength, and the occasional alcoholic beverage . I have loved every minute of my time with you. Watching John Michael torture you, David and Scott bicker over who was your favourite, with Sally smiling, knowing it was her all along. The stories she would tell. The laughs we had. She and Lorraine had a secret language of eye rolls and sighs that only best friends or an old married couple would understand . Lucyeoke was the highlight of the summer because no one threw a party like you. Red and white is always right, you would say, pointing your dagger like scarlet nail in my direction . There's no excuse for not decorating. Yes ma'am. I miss you and will always feel blessed to have known you and the remarkable, talented and genuinely decent humans you brought into my life .
