Obituary For Manus Lloyd Farmer
Age 65, of Halifax, passed away suddenly yet peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital, on November 8, 2021 with his son Manus and daughter Vanessa both by his side. Born in Shelburne on December 13, 1955, Manus was the son of the late Manus and Marjorie Farmer and foster parents Reginald and Evelyn Langford.
He attended Weymouth Consolidated School and after graduating studied Culinary Arts at the Community College in Middleton, Nova Scotia. He became a chef at The Chateau Halifax Hotel. He was a man of many trades, holding down various occupations through life from an early short stint in the Air Force, the Oasis Kitchen, the Waverly Inn to his most proud and recent role of a Commissionaire being the last job he worked. His true passion was cooking in the kitchen or volunteering to coach Steelers Basketball youth, including the teams of two of his children. He enjoyed spending quality time and his many adventures with his youngest son Keshaun. He also enjoyed socializing with friends and playing in the Metro Pool Leagues. Anyone who got to spend time with him knew his kind sense of humour and the kind heart he had. He loved making people laugh and cracking jokes but definitely laughed the hardest at his own. His deep hearty laugh was contagious when heard.
He is survived by his son Manus Jr (Cindy), daughter Vanessa (Paul), grandchildren Kierra, Ty-Gregory, Gabriel, Isabella, Brayden, Mylin, Brooklynn, Izaiah, and two great grandchildren Giovanni and Giánna. Sisters; Carol Farmer of Shelburne, Helen (Jeffery) Johnston, Donna (Sheldon) Symonds, all of Dartmouth, Dorothy and Shirley Johnson, Sheila Elliott of Sacramento. Brothers; Mai-Gemu (Joy) Johnson of Sacramento, Clayton(Debbie) Langford and Gifford Farmer of Halifax along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Cleveland, Robert, Ernest, Stenson, Donald and triplet sister Estelle (Stella) as well as his first love and mother of his three children, Linda Farmer and dearest son Keshaun Farmer.
He will be sadly missed and always remembered.
Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses of the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater as well as the Staff at Harbourview Haven in Lunenburg for the extraordinary level of care and compassion they provided to our Father and family.
