Obituary For Marion Francis Graves (Rhyno)
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Marion. She went peacefully to be with the Lord at 79 years of age on August 24, 2017. She was born to the late Margaret and Gordon Rhyno (Head of St. Margaret's Bay). Formerly of Black Point, Alliston, Ont and Dartmouth, Mom was recently a resident of Maplestone Enhanced Care Facility in Fairview. She spent many years working at the VG Hospital until her retirement and many years before that at Wood Motors Ford in Dartmouth. In her younger years Mom loved to pack up for a weekend camping trip during the summer and in the winter she was an all star "Hockey Mom". She could often be found at the rink cheering on her favourite team with a cow bell. She also loved to crochet doilies and baby sweaters, taking great pride in her finished work. Mom has a keen sense of style and was all about her hair, so thankfully she had a wonderful friend and hairdresser, Greta, who gave her the cut, colour and style she needed to always feel young and vibrant. She also had a great sense of humour and often insisted that she was too young to be a great-grandmother. Mom had many friend whom she was particularly fond of. She loved being surrounded by her family and was affectionately known as "Nan" or "Nanny Mom" to her many grandchildren who will all miss her dearly. She will be lovingly remembered by sons, David (Cathy), Windsor, Ont.; Doug (Sandy), Cow Bay; daughters Darlene (Robert) Jones, Brampton, Ont., Donna, Tantallon; Dianne, Hubbards; 18 Grandchildren; 29 Great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, 4 sisters and many, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George, sons Danny, Dale and Darryl; great-great grandchild, Jessa Lyn, and brother, Robert. Many thanks go out to the wonderful staff at Mapleston Enhanced Care for their comfort and support throughout her final days. Cremation has taken place and we, the family welcome friends to join us for a service and celebration of life on Monday, August 28 at 11AM with reception to follow in Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd. 307 Prince Albert Road in Dartmouth. Father Mark Marshall officiating.
