Obituary For Michael Graham
GRAHAM, Michael - Age 76, Eastern Passage, passed away on July 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after his 3rd battle with cancer. Born in Glasgow Scotland he was the son of the late James and Margaret(Clarke) Graham. He moved to Canada in early 70’s with his wife and two young daughters and was a painter by trade. Michael loved spending time with family, watching soccer, fishing and playing the guitar. A few years ago he found a group of like minded musicians and it reignited his passion for music and playing the guitar. Micheal would play with these musicians, from his 3 favourite music jams in Fall River, Bedford and Prospect , minimum three times a week. He also played at several events at seniors homes throughout HRM.
Realizing that life is short, after many years of thinking about it, in October of 2017, Michael finally purchased his life long dream car…..A Jaguar "S" type. He loved that car and considered it one of the most rewarding purchases of his life.
He was well known for his sarcastic and dry sense of humour and wouldn’t hesitate to share his opinion. If you got to know him well, you would agree… as he said to his nurses in his final weeks…"I am a wonderful bother"
Michael was survived by daughters Susan (Brian) Chiasson and Sharon ( Michael) Keddy. Sisters Betty (Jim) Fraser and Christine Adamson , grandchildren Nathan, Kayleigh, Brianna, Ethan and Dakota. The grandchildren fondly remember "Papa Day" when they went on adventures with Papa every weekend.
Michael was predeceased by wife Agnes/Nan and brother Charles. In keeping with Michael’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Instead, in late June he had a “Celebration of Life” party at the Eastern Passage Buffalo Club. We’d like to thank the Buffalo Club and all those who attended, provided food, and jammed for Michael at the event. The love, support and good cheer was heartwarming to Michael and the family.
Cremation has taken place and Dad will be interred with Mum at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife, Easten Passage Food Bank or charity of choice. We would to like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff of 4 West DGH and the Palliative Care Team for the care and compassion they gave to Dad and to our family. A special thanks the all the jammers for their calls, cards, emails, and the live musical entertainment they gave Dad while in the hospital. He considered them his second family. To Margaret and George Simpson, life long friends ,we can’t express enough, our gratitude for all your support and weekly visits to dad. To all our friends, family and neighbours, we thank you for all you have done for us in the last 6 months. The love and support has been a blessing.
Condolences
