Obituaries

Age 71, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 22, 2017 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in St-Joseph de Sorel, Que, the son of the late Gaston and Therese (Michaud). Richard was a member of the Canadian Armed Forced for 24 years. Working as an Electronic Tech, Richard spent several years on the DEW Line and the Pine Tree Line. Richard was deployed to Egypt in 1978 as member of the Peace Keeping Team. In 1979 Richard became a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Air Borne Division. Richard enjoyed motorcycles and has driven across Canada. After his retirement, he enjoyed model boat building and a variety of computer games. Richard was a life member of Branch 31 of the Royal Canadian Legion where he enjoyed dancing, (boy he could get those feet moving) and playing pool. Survived by his loving companion; his children, Patricia, Sonya; and grandchildren Jessy, Vincent, Johnathan, David, Joli-Ann, Katrina and William; brothers, Jocelyn, Serge, Marc. Predeceased by his brother, Michael. A service will be held in St. Andrew's Parish Church, 1570 Shore Drive, Eastern Passage on Wednesday, August 30 at 1:00 PM. Following the service, the family will proceed to the burial plot where Richard will be united with his beloved parent. Donations can be forwarded to the Canadian Cancer Society.
