Obituary For Shirley Anning

Shirley Anning (Myers) passed away peacefully on September 30th at the age of 91 in Halifax, Nova Scotia She was predeceased by her sister Raye (Dave), her husband Lloyd and daughter Barbara.

She is survived by her son Jeff (Lisa), grandchildren Ian (Justine), Laura (Kory), son-in-law Francis Hogan, grandchildren Alex and Emilie (Adam) and four greatgrandchildren, Lucas, Dylan, Benjamin, and Georgia. She will also be missed by her sisters’ children Pamela, Lyndsey, Karen and David and their families. Our family is tremendously thankful for the love, support and advice provided through the years by another niece, Patty Anning.

Shirley was born in Cobalt, Ontario but moved to Toronto while very young after her father’s death. Shirley and Lloyd were married in Toronto in 1954 and enjoyed 60 years together. With a young family they moved to Guelph in 1960 and enjoyed their lives there for another 55 years. After her daughter passed she moved to Nova Scotia. Shirley was a wonderful mother and active community member. She enjoyed her times at the family cottage in Muskoka, making many types of crafts, curling, line dancing and socializing with her sorority friends. She made many friends while an Avon Lady and later while working at the Credit Union.

A celebration of her life will be held next summer in Ontario.

Shirley was a wonderful friend to both of us. Robert remembers the brownies she often made him and I remember picking raspberries with her from her bushes We watched the Triple Crown every year with our appropriate attire. She loved reading and lived life to the fullest. Shirley was always a joy to be around. Rest in peace Shirley. Robert and Sally

I'm going to miss you Auntie Shirl, and not just because as kids we could fit into your tiny shoes. I'll always think of you and mom smiling and laughing.... even when you set the basket of dinner rolls on fire. Ahhh good times!
