Obituary For Stanley Francis MacKenzie

Stanley Francis MacKenzie, 1929-2024 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Stanley (Stan), on Sunday May 9th, with his wife and children by his side. His wife , Delores, and his children Brenda(Simone), and Gary, as well as his grandsons Jason (Melissa), Great Granddaughter (Maria) were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and friends. Dad was born and raised in Woodside and was predeceased by his siblings, Ken, Austin, Harvey, and Walter, Leona, and grandson Blake. His mother Mary died when he was only 14 years old, and he was raised by his father Seymour. Because Dad grew up with very little, he was determined to provide for his own family, so he put himself through St. Mary’s University, securing a job at the Imperial Oil Refinery. He was a great athlete in his younger years , excelling in baseball, hockey, curling, snooker and golf. He was fiesty , stubborn, witty, and often way to smart for his own good. He loved Seaside FM, puzzles, writing poems, riddles, logic, and finance, and he could often be found at the Halifax Casino. His famous line was, “ he won or broke even” . Good try Dad. Dad will miss his beautiful apartment on Baker Drive where he and mom lived until recently. Thanks Mel and Tammy for watching over our parents all these years. Last week he recited all of the counties of Nova Scotia for the Dr.’s, and as soon as he would start with Cumberland, Colchester, Pictou…….Gary and I would say, “ Oh no, here it comes”. Our family would like to Thank all the Dr’s, Nurses, and Staff on 3 West, and 5 East at the Dartmouth General Hospital for the kindness and compassion you showed to Stan and our family. A special Thank you to Dr’s Preston, Vantol, Russell, Duplisea, and Dr. Aaron Stroud (GP). Thank you to the wonderful Nurses, especially Patti and Maryssa. May Stan rest in peace with all the loved ones that passed before him.

We know you will be watching over us Dad.
