William (Bill) Slaunwhite
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Slaunwhite of Porters Lake, on June 13th, 2024, at the age of 78. Born in Halifax to Edward and Clara (Burns) Slaunwhite, he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Sharon (Meldrum); daughter Kelly (Jeff) Preeper of Lake Echo,NS, daughter; Tracey (Bryan)Woods of Oakville, ON, 3 grandsons; (Will, Sam, and Nate), mother-in-law; Lorraine Meldrum, brother; Charlie of Liverpool, NS, and David Theriault of Lake Echo, NS, who was like a brother to Bill. He was a dedicated and loyal employee of Harbour Construction for 50 years. He loved fishing on East Lake and his hunting trips to Newfoundland. His dedication to his community was felt through his willingness to help anyone in need, and he felt great joy in lending a helping hand in any way that he could. His daily visits to Pixie’s (Keizer’s Auto), were part of his daily routine to connect with his buddies and share stories. He was known by many in the community and he loved Porters Lake, Lake Echo, and the Eastern Shore to his core. In his retirement, he was happiest at home, spending time puttering in the yard, and sitting on the deck after a long day with Sharon. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers; Douglas, Eddie, David, Jimmy (Cricket), father-in-law; Donald Meldrum, sister-in-law; Pam Young, niece; Chantelle, and a granddaughter; Hannah. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. “Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.”

Dear Sharon, Tracey Kelly and Families. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Bill was so very proud of Will, Sam and Nate and they enjoyed being with him and Sharing memories. Sharon Tracey and Kelly, there are no words to make it better but know we all will miss him. I was so happy we got to sit and chat and share laughs with him a couple of months ago. Our prayers are with you all at this time.
