Obituary For William (Billy) Mercer

The family announces with great sorrow, the unexpected passing of William (Billy) Mercer at his residence on Friday, November 29, 2019. Although William had been dealing with serious health issues for some time, he faced them with courage and determination.

Beloved husband to Helen, together they embraced the joys of life and overcame any challenges that may have come their way. Billy and Helen’s bond was strengthened and their love grew with each passing year and more recently, they were happily settling into the “Lake Life” and their Blue Castle.

Without hesitation, Billy stepped into the role of father to Michael, always providing unconditional love and support. For Michael, Billy was a positive role model growing up and Billy was proud of Michael and treasured how their relationship had grown over the years. Later, Billy had the added joy of welcoming Jenn to the family as a special daughter-in –law.

Billy’s sense of humour was great, his laugh loud and unrestrained, he was the best maker of beans and stuffing. He didn’t understand fashion trends, especially holey jeans and yet possessed too many shoes.

He had the biggest heart and generous spirit, always ready and willing to offer a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours alike. If anything needing fixing, he always seemed to have a way to “Billy it” and make it right.

William’s love for us was steadfast and we were blessed to have shared our lives with him. Our hearts will keep the memories to be treasured and he will be missed …always.
