Obituary For Adeline Margaret Landry (Beaton)
Adeline Margaret Landry (Beaton), of Fairview, passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 86 on 12th January 2024 at her home in Whitehills Long Term Care Centre in Hammonds Plains, NS.
Adeline was born in New Waterford to John Alex and Jessie (Gillis) Beaton. She was a proud member of the 1959 graduating class of Saint Rita’s Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in Winnipeg and at the IWK Hospital in Halifax before marriage. Adeline was a life-long learner, an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society, and she loved all music but especially blues music, volunteering for many years at the Atlantic Jazz Festival. Adeline enjoyed line dancing, exercise, travel, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends. Adeline's cup was always half full, every room she was in was better for her presence, and she will be lovingly remembered as the greatest mom, ever.
She was predeceased by her husband, Don, her parents, and her 13 siblings: Mae (Hannigan), Anne (in infancy), Elizabeth (in infancy), Elizabeth (Sister John de Brebeuf of the Ursulines of Jesus), Ranald, Jessie (Howell), Edith (Langley), John, Leo, Catherine, Leona, Elizabeth (Greene), and Coady. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell (Jennifer), Gary (Brenda), Blair (Deanna), and Craig (Mark Olivier), as well as grandchildren Mathieu (Jennifer), Spencer, Travis, Emma (Adam), Olivia, Jessica, and Ethan, great-grandchildren Callum, Violet, and Palmer and her many treasured nephews and nieces.
Adeline’s family is grateful to the staff at Whitehills for their care. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass for Adeline will be held at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Halifax on 30 January at 12:15, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville. Family flowers only, and in lieu of flowers we ask that you consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
