Obituary For Catherine Ann Keeler (Ouderkirk)

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Catherine Ann Keeler (Ouderkirk) of Lower Sackville Nova Scotia on February 24 2025 .

After a brief illness Catherine passed away peacefully with her family by her side in the QE11 Infirmary Site Halifax.

Born in Springhill Nova Scotia on June 1948 she was the daughter of the late Laurence and Mary Ouderkirk.

After raising her three children she was employed at Canadian Blood Services for a number of years.

After her retirement, one of her favourite activities was to make daily trips to the local fitness centre where due to her wonderful personality and sense of humour she made some great friends.

She loved to shop for her grandchildren often finding great bargains at her favourite store Frenchys.

Catherine enjoyed her time at the family cottage in Wentworth tending to her flower gardens and socializing with the neighbours. She enjoyed dancing and listening to country music with a glass of wine in hand.

She was a diehard Toronto Maple Leafs fan. She was known for her love of animals especially horses and her beloved dogs Ben,Riley, Max and Rocky.

Catherine will be greatly missed by her husband Don and her children Derrick (Natasha) , David (Mandy) and Jennifer (James), grandchildren Bodhi, Juliana ,Jessica, Liam, Jaxson and Jada.

We want to extend a special thank you to Heather (Catherines favourite nurse) and all the wonderful staff at Northwood Manor Nursing Home 10 Manor for your support and kindness during Catherines journey.

In accordance with Catherines wishes she was cremated and no formal service will be held. The family will gather for a private interment at a later date.

Donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

So very sorry to hear about Cathy's passing. My most sincere condolences to Donny and the entire family. Cathy had so much love for life, her family and was always fun to be around. We spent many lunch hours going for walks before she retired. We both enjoyed our annual November Christmas shopping, craft show & lunch date where she was always so pleased to find gifts for her family. The trip we took together to Punta Cana was so much fun and I will always cherish those memories. Sending love, Susan Parker

My thoughts and prayers are with Donny, Derek, David and Jennifer and their families. Catherine was a wonderful sister -in- law, wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. I loved going to Cathy and Donny's house on Boxing Day each year. She was a great cook and hostess. We enjoyed her many trips to Newton Avenue and to the cottages in PEI. Love Michael E. Keeler
