Obituary For Daniel Frank Miller

Daniel Frank Miller (age 44), passed away tragically. He was born and raised in Dartmouth NS and remained in Dartmouth for most of his life. Danny will be remembered as a very passionate man who loved his family fiercely. Danny had a love of sports that began at a young age. It started in his yard with neighborhood kids playing a game of catch and whether he was launching a football in a field, practicing his mean knuckleball in baseball or attempting top corners for hockey, he had his sisters in the line of fire. It continued with his dearly loved nieces and nephews who cherish the time he took to throw a ball with them or play soccer. Danny’s love of hockey began with watching Patrick Roy for the Montreal Canadiens and was a diehard fan to the core.

Danny had a deep respect for the earth. He connected best in nature and with animals. He was a very proud Nova Scotian and Canadian. Danny also enjoyed a good mental challenge- with numbers, stats, Canadian history, remembering birthdays and phone numbers- he had a memory like no other. He could be found having detailed and passionate conversations with his Dad and others about sports history, playing scrabble with his mom, having a few hands of crib on a Saturday night or playing Suduko in his quiet times (at Master levels!).

From a young age Danny struggled with his mental health. Call it his aura or fortune, he attracted people who helped him with challenges and barriers in times of need. He also struggled with maintaining relationships, but he remembers every soul that was there to help him. His family wants to acknowledge and thank these people for the positive impact they had.

Survived by his parents Madeline Mary Dyer (Horst, deceased) and Frank Edward Miller (Gloria). Daughter Eve Edwards. Sisters Jennifer Miller and Angela Roberts (Douglas). Nieces and nephews Jacob Dixon, Emily Dixon, Dorien Mosher, Anne Mosher, Samantha Roberts and Tristan Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the CMHA- Canadian Mental Health Association- NS Division would be appreciated. A celebration of Life will be held at the Findlay Community Centre, 26 Elliot Street, Dartmouth, NS from 1-3 on Saturday September 14.
