Obituary For Gerald Raymond Begg

With immense sorrow, we announce the passing of Gerald Raymond Begg, who left us on October 19, 2024. At age 73, Gerald was a man full of wisdom, humor, and passion for life. His legacy will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. He was the son of the late Donald and Phyllis (Kelly) Begg.

Gerald was a man of diverse interests and passions. He enjoyed diving into the world of fiction through spy novels, an avid Star Trek fan, and always ready for the next James Bond film. Gerald's love for travel often took him to places far and wide, creating beautiful memories and exciting stories to share with his family and friends. He spent many years of his professional life working in tourism and travel. He loved to wine and dine, and taught himself to bake and cook full course meals in the later years of life.

Left behind to remember Gerald's love and zest for life are his four beloved daughters Dawn (Errol) Pretty, Amy (Darryl) Wall, Terri (Ronald) Begg and Lauren (Shawn) Lendvay. He is also survived by his brother, Larry (Gail) Begg. He was grandfather to five, Tess, Luke, Willow, Shawn Jr and Charles. He was an uncle, great uncle, and honorary parent to many. His generosity, kindness, guidance, character and love will be remembered.

Gerald was predeceased by his wife of nearly 52 years, Dianne.

The void left by Gerald's absence is indeed deep and will be felt dearly by all of us. We take solace in the joyous memories he has left behind and in the knowledge that his life was one well-lived. His memory will continue to inspire those he left behind and his love will forever envelop them, providing strength and solace during this challenging time.

The family is still confirming details for a celebration of life. These will be shared in the near future.

Gerald's obituary is beautiful. It has captured the true essence of his beloved character. I have many memories of him as my travel buddy and thought of him as my big brother. We had many great conversations. I can still hear his giggle!! I learned so much from Gerald and had the added honour to witness the tremendous respect he earned in the cruise industry. Rest in peace, dear Gerald.

Our deepest condolences on the loss of your father. We knew both your parents in our "younger" years and always enjoyed their friendship. Now we have a beautiful hope of seeing them younger and healthy in Jehovah's due time - soon. Our sympathy and prayers are with you all! Barry and Norine Nygard

Gerald always had a huge smile no matter what was going on in his life. "It is what it is". "This too shall pass". We are looking forward to seeing Gerry and Di in paradise soon. In the meantime remembering his generous spirit and kind manner will help ease the pain we deal with now. Much love, Larry and Gail.
