Obituary For Lorraine Barbara MacDonald (Marks)

It is with sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lorraine MacDonald of Musquodoboit Harbour Nova Scotia on February 26, 2025.

After a several years struggle with dementia, Lorraine passed away peacefully at Ivy Meadows nursing home in Beaverbank.

Born in Chester, Nova Scotia in November 1941, amazingly, she was a survivor of the infamous “Butter Box Baby” facility. She was adopted by Arthur (Harris) and Margaret Marks of Dartmouth.

Lorraine held down careers firstly at Dominion Grocery Store, Dartmouth and then at RBC, Porters Lake.

Her favourite activities were bowling, bingo and fishing. In her retirement, she loved to make daily trips to the coffee shop in Jeddore to catch up with the local news.

Lorraine will be greatly missed by her three sons Gerald (Jerry), James (Jim) (wife Claudelle) and Donald (Don), her three grandchildren, Heather (husband Chris), Brittany (husband Mike) and Matthew, and her two great granddaughters, Audrey and Ivy. She was predeceased by her Husband, Gearld (Jerry).

We want to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Northwood’s Ivy Meadows care facility for your support and kindness during Lorraine’s journey.

In accordance with Lorraine’s wishes she was cremated, and no formal service will be held. The family will gather for a private interment later.

She even taught me how to make our Christmas beverage ( Slush) which we enjoyed on Christmas Eve❤️my heart is so full of wonderful memories of this amazing woman ❤️RIP Lorraine
