Mary Josephine Good (Ryan) of Cole Harbour, was born on August 14, 1938, and passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023, at the age of 84. It is with profound sadness that her family announces her passing at the Halifax Hospice with her daughter and son Robert, by her side, after a brief battle with cancer. She will now be reunited with her loving husband Sam and BEAUTIFUL daughter Leah Ellen. She is survived by her daughter Angela (Andy MacDonald), sons Greg Ryan (Bertha), Gary (Tiffany), Leonard (Trine), Robert (Heather), grandchildren Corben, Corey, Cody, Jayme, Jesse, Cole, Bryton, Colton, Samantha, Shania, and Amanda, as well as 10 beautiful great- grandchildren. Sisters, Grace, Audrey, Sylvia “Tootsie”, Betty, Beverly and Bridget. She was predeceased by her loving husband Samuel, beautiful daughter Leah Ellen, and grandson Ryan, her father, John R. Ryan, and her mother, Florence (Hart), brothers Richard, Pat, Kenny, Mel & Little Amy Campeau.
Mom will be truly missed by her family. She was our rock, our go-to person. Life will simply not be the same without her. We take comfort in knowing that she's gone home to be with the Lord, and that all her pain has ended.
Mom was raised in a little house on the hill in Portobello Waverly with her many siblings. She joined the armed forces and met the love of her life, Sam, while stationed in Churchill. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior in the late 70s at a little United Pentecostal Church on Main Street, and her life was forever transformed. Mom had a few jobs over her lifetime, including working at NS Hospital, Halifax Post Office, and Halifax County Rehab, but her biggest achievement was raising her family. She was known for her famous pies & spicy spaghetti!! She loved her kids no matter how old they got; they were always kids in her eyes. We'll miss you, Mom. Till we all meet again.
Mom's final days were spent at Halifax Hospice. I cannot express the gratitude my family has for this place. My brother called the nurse, Mel, an angel. She truly was an angel, with so much compassion. I thank God for her and all the incredible staff at the Hospice. A special thank you to Dr. Connidis, a lovely, kind lady. Oh, and to Gary, the cook, who made me amazing meals.
Cremation has taken place, and Mom will be buried at Mount Hermon Cemetery, as per her wishes. And with her will be Dad Samuel and her daughter Leah. In lieu of a funeral, a gathering will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be sent to www.donaldkwalker.ca. Donations can be made to Halifax Hospice https://hospicehalifax.ca
