Obituary For Mary Josephine Good "Ryan"

Mary Josephine Good (Ryan) of Cole Harbour, was born on August 14, 1938, and passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023, at the age of 84. It is with profound sadness that her family announces her passing at the Halifax Hospice with her daughter and son Robert, by her side, after a brief battle with cancer. She will now be reunited with her loving husband Sam and BEAUTIFUL daughter Leah Ellen. She is survived by her daughter Angela (Andy MacDonald), sons Greg Ryan (Bertha), Gary (Tiffany), Leonard (Trine), Robert (Heather), grandchildren Corben, Corey, Cody, Jayme, Jesse, Cole, Bryton, Colton, Samantha, Shania, and Amanda, as well as 10 beautiful great- grandchildren. Sisters, Grace, Audrey, Sylvia “Tootsie”, Betty, Beverly and Bridget. She was predeceased by her loving husband Samuel, beautiful daughter Leah Ellen, and grandson Ryan, her father, John R. Ryan, and her mother, Florence (Hart), brothers Richard, Pat, Kenny, Mel & Little Amy Campeau.

Mom will be truly missed by her family. She was our rock, our go-to person. Life will simply not be the same without her. We take comfort in knowing that she's gone home to be with the Lord, and that all her pain has ended.

Mom was raised in a little house on the hill in Portobello Waverly with her many siblings. She joined the armed forces and met the love of her life, Sam, while stationed in Churchill. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior in the late 70s at a little United Pentecostal Church on Main Street, and her life was forever transformed. Mom had a few jobs over her lifetime, including working at NS Hospital, Halifax Post Office, and Halifax County Rehab, but her biggest achievement was raising her family. She was known for her famous pies & spicy spaghetti!! She loved her kids no matter how old they got; they were always kids in her eyes. We'll miss you, Mom. Till we all meet again.

Mom's final days were spent at Halifax Hospice. I cannot express the gratitude my family has for this place. My brother called the nurse, Mel, an angel. She truly was an angel, with so much compassion. I thank God for her and all the incredible staff at the Hospice. A special thank you to Dr. Connidis, a lovely, kind lady. Oh, and to Gary, the cook, who made me amazing meals.

Cremation has taken place, and Mom will be buried at Mount Hermon Cemetery, as per her wishes. And with her will be Dad Samuel and her daughter Leah. In lieu of a funeral, a gathering will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be sent to www.donaldkwalker.ca. Donations can be made to Halifax Hospice https://hospicehalifax.ca

Robert, Angela, Gary, Leonard, I am so heart broken I just heard of your mom passing last night. I am so very sorry. She was what I use to think a perfect mom would be. I had so many beautiful conversations with her over the years and man I use to think she was GORGEOUS, and of course all her kids and grandkids are as well. I know losing the nuclei to the family is hard we are all going through the loss of parents at this stage in life. It doesn't make it any easier, but I assure you many of us empathize and know what a loss it is for you all. Knowing your mom was a Christian should give everyone such tremendous peace, her spirit is on a beautiful new journey free of suffering, pain and she is having a family reunion that we could only dream of. I loved your whole family when I was growing up and I love you all still even though life takes us down different paths away from each other. My heart is always with you guys. I am hugging you all and sending so much love and healing to you all! And to the baby, Robert, you will always be one of my dearest childhood friends and I love you always! Stay strong buddy! Tina Kane

Mary is a very special person in my life. She brought me to know the Lord in 1985. We connected through our faith and love. We have maintained our closeness for almost 30 years. She has always been a huge support to me and helped me through many tragedys and supported me through many wonderful events in my life. I will truly miss our visits and talks. It brings me soo much peace to know she is with Sam, Leah and Ryan. I love her deeply and send my condolences to her entire family ❤️

Mary you will be missed so much. We can still not believe you are gone; gone but never forgotten. Things will NEVER be the same without you. I will miss our telephone and Facebook conversations, we covered everything from dream analysis to politics to religion. Every time we spoke we discussed what we would have for supper and it always sounded so good. We pretty much solved all the important issues and had so many good laughs. Your famous fried rice will be missed at pot lucks, no one made it like you did, not to mention that spaghetti! You were kind and generous and will be sadly missed. I know you are rejoicing with Gerry, Leah, Mom and the others that have gone before you. Love you sis till we meet again.

Mary was an angel on earth, the most forgiving and loving person I knew, always positive and willing to share her knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. She is missed dearly and will forever be in our memory and our hearts! RIP 🙏
