Obituary For Maurice Havelock Kaiser

Maurice Havelock Kaiser, age 80 formally of Port Bickerton, Stillwater and Cole Harbour passed away on October 1, 2024 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, NS.

Havelock had a love of the sea; he was employed on fishing boats and was the owner/operator of the Anne Jolene before retiring from the fishing industry in the late 1980’s. He then worked on the County Harbour Ferry till retirement.

He was an avid sport fisherman, enjoying many hours salmon fishing on the St. Mary’s River and trout fishing at Archibald Lake. He liked to spend time in his garden, in his workshop doing woodwork, and watching Nascar races and hockey games on tv. He loved to cook and eat; he especially enjoyed meals with family and friends. He spent countless hours at the rink, swimming pool and football field cheering on and supporting his grandchildren, who he adored with all his heart. He was affectionately known by his family as the “safety officer” doing what he could to keep everyone safe and reminding us to be careful; a trait that continued as his dementia progressed.

Havelock is survived by his son Tony (Shelley) Kaiser; daughter Tammy (Chris) Beck, grandchildren Andrew (Hillary) Kaiser, Devin (Hailey) Kaiser, Kelby (Gina) Kaiser; grandchildren Christopher (Laura) Beck, Laura (Devin) Beck and Sam Beck; great grandchildren Gabriel Kaiser, Greysen Kaiser, Lexi Kaiser, Isla Kaiser and Ava MacDonald; brother Barry (Brenda) Kaiser; sister-in-law Oneida Kaiser; brother-in-law’s Philip (Vicki) Kaiser, Kevin (Donna) Kaiser, and sister-in-law Anne (Pat) Hanlon; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Marlene (Kaiser); infant son Thomas; parents Maurice and Jean (Horton)Kaiser; sister Sylvia in childhood, brother Willard Kaiser, brother and sister-in-law Doug and Katherine Kaiser, sister-in-law Monica Zilinski; in-laws Wesley and Laura Kaiser.

Family would like to thank the staff at Parkland Enhanced Care (Garden Court and Sullivan’s Lane) for their compassionate care over the past 4 years to our loved one, who they affectionately called Papa.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Port Bickerton, N.S or charity of your choice.
