Sylvester (Hubba) J Giorno , 79, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at Dartmouth General Hospital (DGH) on Monday, March 18th, 2024. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Charlotte (Manchefski) Giorno. Sylvester was a loving husband and grandfather who served in the Canadian Coast Guard for 33 years until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement he enjoyed many hobbies, darts, bowling, playing crib, baking his famous clothes pin cookies and pies, and spending time outdoors, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Judy (Henwood) Giorno, Dartmouth; his daughter, Heather Giorno, and grandchildren Robert, Anthony, Juston, Javon, Jamal; sons, Darrick (Julie), Bryan (Kandra), and Dennis Pettigrew, and grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Dustin, Madison, Bethany. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Rosie, Paticia, and brother Frank and Janeiro. Cremation services have been entrusted by Donald K Walker, Dartmouth. A private ceremony at sea will be held at a later date. The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital on 4th Floor East. Special thank you to nurse, April.
