Obituary For Walter James (Laddie) Wylde

WYLDE, Walter James (Laddie) of Dartmouth, NS passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7th, 2024.
Born in Halifax, he grew up in Glace Bay, NS where he met his high-school sweetheart and love of his life, Beryle Anne Wylde (McNeil) to whom he was married for 51 years prior to her passing in 2020.
Together with Beryle, they enjoyed visiting their grandchildren in Alaska, and having them visit Nova Scotia each summer. He was an avid gardener and homeowner, very proud of his house, property, lawn, and gardens, always taking meticulous care of each.
Walter was also proud of his membership in the Order of Freemasonry, the Tyrian Youth Lodge No. 45 Masonic Lodge of Glace Bay, Cape Breton and will be missed by his Brothers in both the Glace Bay and Dartmouth Lodges.
He is survived by his son James (Nicole) Wylde of Dartmouth, NS, daughter Kelly (Vern) Johnson of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren Ryan, Kate, & Meghan of Anchorage, AK; and brother Brian of Ontario. He was pre-deceased by his mother Hazel Wylde (Miller) and infant brother David Wylde.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. In memory of Walter, the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.donaldkwalker.ca

I knew Walter for many years.I spent an hour with him the day before at his favourite MacDonalds on Portland St.He seemed in such good health & we joked about past adventures. He was with a real estate person and was thinking of selling his house and already got a new apt..We joked about getting some guys together to help him move.He said he stopped drinking years ago but I said he could still pay for our beer.Walter was one of a kind and I thought the world of him and his deceased wife Beryle.I am still in such shock when a neighbour got hold of me the morning after we were together and told me Walter passed.A huge loss for his neighbourhood and family.Sincere Condolenses to his daughter Kelly and son Jaimie.RIP old friend,Ill miss our MacDonalds chats & say Hi to Beryle for me.
