Obituary For Donald William Morash

Donald William Morash passed away on April 2, 2025 at Ocean view Manor due to complications from dementia.

Dad is survived by his loving wife and best friend of nearly 60 years Diane (Tanner), daughter Tina, son-in-law John and beloved granddaughter Katelyn and favorite sidekick Shadow. He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Rosalind Morash.

Dad was born and raised in Lunenburg Nova Scotia a place he loved so much. He attended Lunenburg Academy for most of his schooling, but graduated from Centre Consolidated High School in 1962.

Out of high school Dad joined the Bank of Montreal and worked in various locations in Atlantic Canada for 25 years and later worked with Investors Group Dartmouth until his retirement.

Besides his family, dad had two other loves people and sports. Dad would always be ready to chat and have the ability to always find someone he knew no matter where he went. However, even if he didn't know you that didn't stop him from talking and finding out about you and your day.

Dad was an avid sportsman, whether playing or watching his days always involved sports. He loved golf playing as often as he could( member of Grandview GCC), a curler( past president of the Dartmouth Curling Club) and a hockey fanatic. He could always be found cheering on his Halifax Mooseheads ( season ticket holder since 1996)and following the career of his favourite NHL player Sidney Crosby.

He also loved to watch the Toronto Blue Jays.

One of Dad's most proud sporting accomplishments was as a member of the Lunenburg Academy hockey team when they won the provincial hockey tournament in 1961.

Dad was a man of faith and a member of the Cole Harbour Woodside United Church family where he volunteered and served on many committees and councils.

Of all the roles that dad played in his life being a grandfather was the one he cherished the most. Dad was so proud of Katelyn. He loved to attend her swim meets, her soccer games and was proud of all her academic achievements. Despite his worsening dementia he still was able to see her graduate from high school last June and see her off to Acadia in September.

We would like to take a moment to thank the staff at Ocean view Manor in Eastern Passage, who treated Dad with care and respect, especially during his final days .

Funeral services and visitation will take place at Cole Harbour Woodside United Church . Visitation April 20th 7-9 pm and the funeral on April 21st 11 am.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, or any charity of your choice.

To Diane and family. Our condolences. We remember our time as neighbours in Kentville and our late evening trips for a hot pork sandwich and later a shared like of Teen Burgers. I think there were a few games of bridge as well. So sorry we lost touch through the years. Priscilla and Greg MacLeod
