I met Gerry when I was an I/O cherk working at the Dal computer center in the basement of the Killam Library. He became a lifelong friend. My deepest condolences to his family and special friend.

I've known Gerry for many, many years, since the high school days. He was such a fun, creative, kind soul - one of a kind. Going to miss driving by his house and wondering what he's up to. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

It makes me so sad that Gerry is gone. I've been remembering some of the funny/crazy things he would do. A personal favourite was his impression of frying bacon. If you've seen it, the memory will make you laugh - many a party was entertained by his antics. I remember the time when he and Sandy, his regular partner in crime, snuck into our home and cranked up an old air raid siren. They didn't know that my parents were napping and that I was not the only one that they would be alarming. They made themselves scarce for a while after that stunt. Then there was the time when a whole bunch of us were driving down Waverly Road in the back of the old hearse. He crawled out of a window and over the roof so that he could drop his head down over the windshield. He wanted to scare Dave, who was driving. We almost went off the road. He was fearless when making mischief. Gerry gave me the nickname, "Clyde". Sandy was dating a girl named Bonnie and I was dating Gerry. Bonnie went her own way at some point but I continued to be Clyde. He had some interesting vehicles through the years too. The old VW Beetle was pretty special. I remember his apology when we were driving around in it one day in a rainstorm. There was almost no floor on the passenger side. I was soaked to the waist from going through the puddles. Many a Saturday night it was too late to drive back into town so he slept on the couch at my parents house. He didn't want to be late for Mass in the morning so he just started to leave a clean set of clothes in the front closet. Yes, he was funny and a little wild sometimes but he was also very kind. After my dad died, he used to visit my mother often. He would bring her treats and make delicious meals for her. When I called her, she would tell me about the fun visit and the wonderful things he cooked. I'm going to miss you so much, Gerry. It's still pretty surreal to think that you are gone. I went to school with Gerry from Mary Lawson to PA. He was great pals with Sandy MacDougall. I grew up on Fourth Street and often saw Gerry and Sandy in the neighborhood. The past 5 years or so, I would see him walking to the mall or at the grocery store. We always had a great chat.

It was a shock to hear of Gerry's passing. So sad. Gerry was always full of mischief. energy, inquisitiveness, kindness. He had a great gift of openness to friends of all ages.

Our deepest condolences to Marilyn, Cathy, and families on the passing of brother/uncle Gerry. I remember how Gerry so generously paid for our concert tickets at Acadia many years ago when we were still in high school and how tolerant he was of his sisters' friends when his feet were accidentally trampled by high heels at a family wedding! Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time - will remember the good times of always feeling welcome in the family home - God bless!

Marilyn, I am so sorry for Gerry's passing. I met him only a few times but he was pleasant and easy to share moments with. Hugs from Oakville.

Clare and I lived close to Gerry but hardly saw him the last years.He always amazed with his ideas and worldly ways.He will be missed.Roy Bambury

To Gerry's family, I send my condolences. Whenever I spent time with Gerry there were two things he always said: that I got him through French in high school and that somehow inside my quiet exterior there was an active and intelligent being. After I moved to Vancouver in '77, when annually I visited my family in Halifax, I met up with Gerry and he always seemed to have his intelligence and curiosity wrapped around interesting technological ventures. I found him a cheerful yet probing person, quick to chuckle in that way he did and interested in talking about many life topics. Kind to a fault, at least as I found him to be. I will miss seeing you, Gerry.

I have many fond memories of Gerry and most of them were laughing together with friends and family as he told stories. These were all such fun memories of Gerry and his genius as he faced problems using unique methods to come to a satisfactory solution in his special way. He was also an actor in his own right. Anyone remember "frying bacon"? He did love to cook for friends and family who in turn really appreciated the delicious meals he prepared. Gerry leaves a legacy that will be missed by many people. Gerry always loved to joke and make people laugh. He had an amazing mind and was totally obsessed with everything technical. I have many fond memories of good times spent with him. Condolences to his family and friends. Thoughts and prayers to help you through this difficult time.

I was saddened to hear of Gerry's passing. He and I worked together for over a decade at BIO, and he was one of the warmest, affable people I've ever known. Gerry was an excellent mentor and a visionary with a unique ability to predict most future trends in the IT field better than almost anyone.
