Obituary For Maureen Ann Duhme

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maureen Ann Duhme (Ann to friends and family), of Bedford, Nova Scotia, at the age of 90, on December 24, 2024.

Born in London, England, Ann was the daughter of the late Ivy Amelia (Chaplin) and Frederick Phipps. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Duhme, her brother Desmond Phipps and her daughter Karen Dakin.

After making the move to Canada 1965, Ann and her family lived in Toronto until 1979 when they moved to Halifax. She retired from the Bank of Montreal at age of 60. She remained a proud British lady, never losing her accent despite living nearly 60 years in Canada. She had a variety of interests including camping, gardening, knitting, reading and cooking.

Ann is survived by sons Graham Duhme (Michelle) and Martin Duhme (Rhonda); son-in-law Brian Dakin; grandchildren Rafer, Laurel, Sheamus, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Katy and Jason; great grandchildren Nyah, Bowen, Nova and True, nieces Alison Frost and Christine Sykes (Alan) in England; and the many friends she loved as family members.

In accordance with Ann’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at 5B VG for their care and compassion, as well as the staff members from Closing the Gap who supported Ann’s desire to remain in her home this past year.
